CIVL PhD Student Wins Second Prize at 10th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

We are pleased to congratulate Mr. Zaolin PAN, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Yantao YU, for winning a second prize at the 10th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, in the Mathematics and Physics/Mechanics and Control Systems category.

The Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, is the regional stage for two prestigious national innovation and entrepreneurship competitions for university students—the China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition hosted by the Ministry of Education, and the “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest by the Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. Winners of the Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition may have an opportunity to represent HKSAR later at those national competitions.

Mr. Pan’s project, titled “Recovering Building Information Model from 2D Drawings for MEP Systems of Ageing Buildings”, secured a second prize along with a cash award of HK$5,000. More importantly, through this competition, talented students like Zaolin can gain exposure to cutting-edge innovative ideas, which can enhance their skills and pave the way for them to become future leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship.
